As part of our promotional material educational outreach we ask that students and CFI’s complete this social media release form.

Aviation Safety

FTP Safety Program:

In addition to the government Aviation Safety Reporting System, FTP provides an opportunity to increase operational safety through suggestions as well as reporting anomalies in the training environment. If you have a suggestion or observe something that appears unsafe, please report it here. If there is something of an urgent nature, verbally report it to the pilot shop or call 911 as needed.

Employees and CFI’s

Employees & CFI's are required to complete annual TSA Security Awareness Training as directed by 49 CFR 1552.23.

Aircraft check-out

In order to rent an aircraft from us you must complete an aircraft checkout with one of our CFI’s.

The following airports also require specialised training and a checkout flight with a CFI.

New Students

Flight Circle

We use Flight Circle for scheduling, billing, and pilot profiles. Please create an account.

Renter’s agreement:

All renters must read and sign our renter’s agreement. Find that agreement here. Please speak with a Flight Test Prep representative to get the access code.

Insurance requirements:

We require all students and renters to have an active renter’s insurance policy. Minimums: $250,000/$25,000 Bodily Injury/Prop Damage /  $5000 Liability to Rented Aircraft 

You can find renter’s insurance information from trusted providers such as AVEMCO and Assured Partners.

CFI’s are highly encouraged to also carry additional CFI insurance.

Upload your renters insurance to Flight Circle and we will review and update your profile.

AOA badge

In order to access the ramp and aircraft you must have an AOA badge, issued by Long Beach Airport.

  1. Complete Pilot Rental Agreement

  2. Pay the badging fee/deposit on left.

  3. Complete prefilled LB Badging Application form

  4. Complete the Flight Test Prep badge application

    1. Follow link and select : Apply for a badge through Flight Test Prep

    2. Upload PDF of your application 

    3. Upload Receipt from payment

  5. Turn completed printed paper Badge application  into the Pilot Shop

  6. Allow one week for signatures (usually a day or two)

  7. Pick up your signed badge at Pilot Shop

  8. Bring application to Badging office/ They may continue to accept badge applications via email. 

  9. Pick up badge at LB Airport Badging Office when notified. 

  10. FINAL STEP: Get Gate Card from Pilot Shop and to begin activation process complete the AOA Badge and Gate Card form for submission to Maverick.

Badge Deposit: $200 deposit  ($150 Refundable + $50 processing fee ) accepted in the Pilot Shop(Through Flight Circle) with printed badge application. The application will be signed and available in a day or two for pick up. 

Foreign Students

Foreign Students

Gaining access to train in the United States as a foreign national requires a few extra steps before you can begin your flight training. You will need to.

  1. Create a FTSP account

  2. Receive provider approval

  3. Make a payment

  4. Get fingerprinting

  5. Receive approval

  6. Complete IACRA

  7. Start training!

You will also need to prove English proficiency with the TOEFL test and complete the Flight Test Prep Academy UEE AFSP Foreign Student form.

Flight Test Prep Academy retains FTSP records to meet requirements of TSA.
